Quatrefoil Associates is proud to announce that, effective immediately, Michael Burns, Bernhard Mueller and Roula Tsapalas have joined the ownership team and are now Principals of the firm, which will mark its 30th anniversary in October.
Roula, Michael and Bernhard have made tremendous contributions to the growth of Quatrefoil over the past decade and have enabled the firm to expand the range of services it offers.
Michael joined Quatrefoil as Design Director in 2010. For the past decade, he has led the Quatrefoil team of exhibit designers, interactive engineers, and media and content developers. Previously, he was creative director at the John G. Shedd Aquarium and director of exhibition design at The Field Museum, both in Chicago. Michael is also the executive director of the Omnimuseum Project, devoted to exploring holistic approaches to informal learning and enrichment experiences integrated into everyday experiences.
In more than 16 years with Quatrefoil as Senior Project Manager, Bernhard Mueller has managed many of Quatrefoil’s largest and most complex exhibition and visitor experience projects including the recent permanent exhibition for the Museum of Boulder and projects for the United States Mint, Smithsonian Institution, and the Go For Broke National Education Center. Bernhard also manages the firm’s in-house multimedia team.
Roula Tsapalas brings a rich background to her exhibit design work. Experienced as both an architect and an educator, she has a natural talent for integrating open-ended experiences into the physical space. In addition to her work on museum projects for a diverse range of institutions including the Textile Museum, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and the National Museum of American Jewish Military Heritage, Roula plays a significant role in the development of Quatrefoil’s junior designers. Additionally, Roula is an LEED Green Associate and her knowledge and commitment to green design offers museums a wealth of opportunities for sustainability.
Michael, Roula and Bernhard join Founding Partners Abbie Chessler and Ernie Falcone in Quatrefoil’s expanded ownership team.
